We are back!

OK - so I didn't do any posting while I was away! I think that is a good thing. I was enjoying myself and wasn't thinking about writing a report!

So now that I'm back I will get started!

TRIP REPORT!

Day 1 - Dec 16th Thursday!

I was all ready to go and waiting for Chris to get home from work around noon so we could get on the road. But guess what? He didn't get home till 6:00pm. I won't get into the reason why he got home so late or how pissed I was but lets just say that I wasn't impressed at all. Especially since he said he would be home by 1:00 pm at the latest. After an hour or so I was over my little tantrum and we headed out.

We got to the boarder around 8:30 pm. We had no problems at all. This was one of the easiest times we've had. He said where are you going and we answered - then he asked our son Brad about missing school to which Brad just said I'm only missing a couple of days then the guard said have a great holiday and we were on our way.

Once we were in the US my mood went way up. I don't know why but I'm always nervous about crossing. What if they don't let us in? We haven't broke any laws or anything but it is their prerogative to say nope you not allowed in - and I don't think they have to have a reason. We have never had a problem (knock on wood). Anyway we crossed at the Queenston/Lewiston bridge and it was a pleasant experience.

The drive started out great then turned bad once we hit Virginia. The weather was horrible, it was snowing and the roads were very icy. We had been driving all night and this weather was really wearing on me. I got Chris to pull over for a couple of hours until the plows could get out. That turned out to be a great idea - when we finally got back on the road we seen dozens of cars in the ditch. North Carolina was the worst as they had freezing rain and the roads must have been like a skating rink because it was just car after car on the side of the road smashed. Chris said if we hadn't of pulled over when we did we may have been driving in that chaos. I can't imagine that North Carolina is used to getting snow and freezing rain.

I did notice that the weather was cold right up to Georgia and even then it wasn't great but at least it was above freezing.

With all the bad weather we still managed to make it to Orlando by 8:00 pm which I thought was great. We were already for some much deserved sleep. We didn't get a great look at our hotel that night. Chris checked us in and it was right up to bed. I will review the hotel in the next post. I will say for a priceline hotel I was pleasantly surprised!
